Tips for shopping and buying wedding gowns
Wedding dress tips
1.
Just because a wedding dress doesn’t sport a designer label inside doesn’t mean
it’s any less beautiful or special. Discount wedding dress shops can be a gold
mine for spotting gems and unique designs for less.
2.
Take bridal accessories with you as you shop to see how your dress will look
with shoes, bags, jewelry and other bridal attire items you plan to wear the
day of your wedding.
3.
If you just have to have a designer wedding dress, but you're working with a
limited budget, find a skilled seamstress and take her a photo of your dream
dress to replicate.
4.
No designer uses the same size chart. Therefore you should always try on a
wedding dress before you purchase it. This may seem like a no brainer, but it
is an important detail nonetheless. At some events like Filene's Basement's
Running of the Brides, you cant take your time like you would on a less-hurried
shopping excursion, so keep that in mind before shelling out your hard-earned
money on a designer gown.
Buying a wedding dress is an
important decision, so shop smart! Even if you love the first dress you try on,
it's OK to keep looking. After all, Rome wasn't built in a day, so take your
time a find a gown that you'll love and cherish long after you say I Do.

Why does Alterations Inc continue education and keeping up with new trends and techniquesand education
Alterations Inc. is constantly continuing the education of all our seamstress. Why is this needed? Sewing is sewing right? Needle, thread and a few machines and you are good to go.
Not exactly true. Trends change, techniques change and there are always new ways to learn and new machines that allow us to make alterations on new materials, clothing/leather/purses etc. that are ever changing.
Yes, most sewing/alterations do remain static and we continue to use the same machines and techniques for altering the standards, hems, taking in/out, sewing buttons, etc. however there are new innovations everyday in so many industries.
One example is how women's cuffs are made on pants. Previously, women's pant cuffs were made exactly like mens cuffs. The problem with this is that most women's pants are wider than mens at the bottom and this caused the cuffs to droop. One manufacturer recently tried a new technique which provides the look of a cuff but doesn't droop like the old cuffs. It really is a sort of fake cuff but only you and your seamstress would know that :)
Innovations and changes in sewing techniques are changing and evolving all the time, so it is critical that Alterations Inc. continues our education and keeps up with the newest trends and techniques to provide the Professional quality services we have been providing Arizona for over 25 years.
Alterations Inc has moved after 25 years. Our new location is newer, more comfortable, larger customer area with natural light. Please come visit us and see our new diggs

Bridal gown - picking the right seamstress
Your wedding gowns is probably
only a one-time ordeal for you and your family and friends.
You will probably meet your seamstress
during the first fitting, assume she is good because she has lots of thread and
multiple sewing machines, and then leave the most expensive garment you will
ever purchase in your life with her.
You will then probably visit this garment up to 4
more times for your fittings and adjustments before being able to take it home with you and you will probably never think
of your wedding seamstress or tailor again.
Now, I know you have options when it
comes to finding a good tailor or seamstress.
In fact, the bridal store where
you bought the dress probably may have an alterations department or will “recommend” a number of good tailors for
your convenience.
If you chose to use the bridal store seamstress they will probably “meet” you at the bridal
boutique, measure you out and give you a price estimate for the cost of
alterations. This seems nice and convenient, but did you ever think to ask where your dress
will be while you are gone?
If you cannot see an alterations room around the
corner, then I would say that one is not going to magically appear. There is a
VERY GOOD CHANCE that your prized possession, your wedding gown, will be taking
a journey to (hopefully) nice seamstress’s home where she can
work on it while watching television, or watching her children or
grandchildren.
If you are okay with little ones playing dress-up in your Vera
Wang then this situation will not bother you, however it is probably worth the
inquisitive question of: “Where does my dress get altered at?” or even “Can I
see where the alteration department is?
Bridal Shop prices are also usually up to 50% more than your local seamstress and you are likely to be just another bride in their herd, unless you are using a shop like Kleinfeld's which is on TV and they only provide alterations on dresses over $2500 and believe me their alteration prices are very high. Most bridal shops especially chains usually lack the customer service and quality that you professional local seamstress will provide. They employ part time seamstresses that only get work when they have it and pay very low wages so most likely you are not getting expert seamstresses and the work may not be to the quality you are expecting. They make a lot of money on alterations and either pay seamstresses lower wages or they expect a finders fee from any seamstress they refer.
Alterations Inc. has been serving Arizona for over 25 years. We employ 4 full time employees and 2 part time employees. We have on employee that has been with us 16 years, one 12 year and the 2 others 5+ years. 3 of our employees are Bridal gown experts and have a combined experience of over 75 years.
All our work is done onsite so your gown will not leave our shop for any alterations. With this level of experience you can be assured that your gown will be treated with utmost care and expert tailoring.

Did you know that Alterations Inc can alter Leather and suede?
Alterations Inc has specialists that can alter all kinds of Leather and suede garments. Many people think that leather can not be altered but it is like any other article of clothing and can be tailored to fit you exactly the way you want.
Leather and suede are a bit more difficult to work with than standard cottons and other materials, but an expert can make any alterations needed.
Alterations Inc works on Leather jackets, skirts, racing suits, pants and almost anything else made of leather or suede.

Getting Married? Why use a wedding Planner? You would be surprised?
Many couples get engaged during the holidays. What a great time to show your love and commitment to loved one.
So now that you are engaged where do you go from here? My first suggestion is to hire a wedding planner. Many planners will actually save you money in the long run. Wedding planners know the best vendors and usually work out special pricing for their customers. Also, many wedding planners offer what I call cafeteria style wedding planning. Say you only want them to help you find the caterer and manage the events on the day of the wedding or the last minute arrangements the days before the wedding so you can concentrate on yourself. Check a few out and see if you click with anyone.
This does take some stress off the planning because you can have the planner do the tasks you don't want to do or don't have time to do.
If you can treat your wedding planning like the entire experience is a party that commences with the wedding ceremony and the wedding reception. Enjoy the journey just as much as the destination.
